Bangamata (paragraph) -

 Bangamata

Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib was popularly known as Begum Mujib. She was born in Tungipara, Gopalganj on 8 August, 1930. She was the life partner of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation. She is called Bangamata for her motherly love and affection for the people of Bangladesh. She led very simple life and did not like luxury at all. She taught her children how to lead an ordinary life. Her sacrifice in all historical movements of the country especially in the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971 is praiseworthy. Though she was not involved in political activities, she always inspired and encouraged Bangabandhu to involved himself freely for the cause of the people and the country. She played a significant role in rebuilding the new born Nation. But it is the matter of regret that she was brutally killed along with her husband, sons and some other close relatives on the dark night of 15 August, 1975. She will remain ever memorable in the hearts of the Bangalees.
